The most overlooked 'diseases' of modern times are malnutrition and obesity. They have long been regarded as factors impairing health, but have yet to be the primary focus of physicians. According to the World Health organization, worldwide more than 1.9 billion adults are overweight and 462 million are underweight. The body mass index (BMI) is the most widely used method to define under and overweight, due to its simplicity and accuracy in predicting morbidity and mortality. Generally, a normal BMI is considered from 18.5 to 25.
